Why ArtSup?!

The needs and risks are especially great for low-income families. Their children are more likely to struggle in school, yet parents can’t afford the steep cost of summer camp and after-school programs. If left at home unsupervised for hours, the students face greater risks of getting into trouble given the higher rates of crime, gangs and drug abuse during the after school hours. Food insecurity is prominent in the inner city. ArtSup?! provides a meal to each student every day of the program.

ArtSup?! was created to provide these youth a safe, positive environment after school where they can be engaged with mentors who will offer them a variety of art and life skills.  Creativity and innovation are known elements of success and working side by side with professional artists, youth will learn valuable knowledge not only in the arts but through the arts their knowledge will be increased in the areas of math, science, history and reading - all tools for a good future.
